Town of Swan River Minutes – March 18, 2014

The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor Mckenzie presiding and Councilor’s, Delaurier, Bobick, Jacobson, Friesen and Whyte, Sakal present.


Delegations

1) Conditional Use Hearing No. 1/2014 to allow the operation of a church on the property at 1694 Main Street. No one was present.
2) Mike Kolodichuk regarding his concern about the speed traveled by motorists on Ross Street. Requesting that Council consider putting up a stop sign.. No one was present.
Minutes:

1. RESOLVED that the minutes of the March 4th, 2014 regular meeting of Council be adopted as received.

2. RESOLVED that the Agenda for the March 18th, 2014 regular meeting of Council be received.

3. RESOLVED that the Conditional Use application No. 1/2014 by Swan Valley Bible Fellowship to operate a church from 1694 Main Street be approved.

4. RESOLVED that Council authorize a grant of $1,000.00 to the Association for Community Living.

5. RESOLVED that the 2014 Budget for the Veterans Community Hall be approved.

6. RESOLVED that the Town of Swan River will pay Valley Lions Recycling Inc. $259.68 per tonne for the 2014 monthly recycling claims and the cardboard claims will be paid out at 100% of what the Town receives from MMSM for the cardboard claims.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town will continue paying this rate until the financial statements requested from Valley Lions Recycling Inc. are received and a new agreement is in place.

8. RESOLVED that the Birchwood Cemetery Fee Schedule as per Schedule “A” attached be hereby approved and that these fees take effect on March 19th, 2014.

9 RESOLVED that Council approve a grant in the amount of $1,000.00 to the Swan Valley Crisis Centre to assist with operating expenditures.

10. RESOLVED that the Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to attend the Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association Annual Conference being held in Winnipeg, MB on April 27th to April 30th, 2014.
