The very informative presentation by Laurie Church, Parkland Regional Coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, was very much appreciated by those in attendance.
The facts of dementia and Alzheimer’s were discussed including early warning signs, demographics, diagnosis and procedures to confirm or to deal with the diseases. She was able to answer many of the questions and clarify much of the data that surround the condition which affects so many of the aging population.
She stressed the importance of early diagnosis and intervention, pointing out that if an individual is diagnosed early, he or she has the opportunity and ability to be involved in the process of planning for the future.
