The Swan Valley Hoedowners square dance club is ready to begin another fun season of square dancing beginning Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Swan River Seniors’ Centre at 7 p.m.
This is an opportune time to come out and try square dancing for your first time. Dancing continues weekly and the first two dances on October 2 and October 9 are free for new dancers.
Square dancing is a fun activity with many physical, mental, and social benefits. It has been described as “friendship set to music.” It’s health benefits have been recommended by the Mayo Clinic. What’s more, you don’t need to be an experienced dancer to enjoy square dancing. Each fall, the club begins dancing at a beginner level allowing new dancers to get in on the ground floor and learn their skills systematically with plenty of time to practice with more experienced dancers.
We welcome all people, young, middle-aged, or seniors, singles, or with a partner. Dress is your choice. We suggest beginning with cool clothing and comfortable shoes. Following two and a half hours of dancing we conclude the evening with a light lunch and a relaxing social time.
