The vision for the park along with the starting of a fund for its creation was credited to Eric Shaw, who passed away in a car accident. Debbie Soloway revived the idea and as a result a tremendous show of community spirit, hard work and cooperation, the park is now a reality.

The park received several grants including the $2,000 from Community Places for land prep, $2,300 from Hometown Manitoba for some trees, limestone, textile and other materials, $5,000 from Manitoba Hydro for a majority of the trees as well as numerous, generous donations of time, material and cash from families, individuals and community groups.

One of the historic features is the replica well, located directly over the remnants of the original well. The well comes with an interesting piece of history. It is told that the well was located directly across from the old hotel and, not being allowed to drink in the hotel, the women would congregate around the well.

The park currently features flower beds, old farming implements picnic tables and fire pits.

Future plans include more pieces of farm equipment, benches, a gazebo cook shelter, outdoor bathrooms, camper and RV parking.

Following the official opening everyone enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon in the park, complete with a community barbeque. The Pine River Metis local group supplied the meat, drinks and coffee and others brought salads to share.
