Town of Minitonas Minutes – August 21, 2013

Regular Meeting of the members of Council of the Town of Minitonas, held in the Council Chambers, Minitonas, Manitoba this 21st day of August, 2013 A.D. at 7:00 p.m.

1. W. Robb – S. Windsor
RESOLVED THAT the Agenda be adopted as presented.
Carried.

2. S. Windsor – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Town of Minitonas agrees to make the attached payments towards the Hall Roof Project.
Carried.

3. W. Robb – S. Windsor
RESOLVED THAT the Animal Control Officer’s Report for the month of July, 2013 shall be accepted as presented, a copy of which is attached hereto, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT payment for contract services for Animal Control shall be made as per the aforementioned report.

4. W. Robb – D. Bartel
RESOLVED THAT approval of payment be made for the List of Accounts numbered 5455 to 5506 inclusive, amounting to $51,285.52.
Carried.

5. W. Robb – S. Windsor
RESOLVED THAT a 12 foot utility trailer shall be purchased for the sum of $2000 plus tax as per the details attached hereto;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT $2160.00 shall be transferred from the municipality’s Equipment Replacement Reserve to fund the aforementioned purchase.

6. D. Bartel – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT the Bank Reconciliation and the Financial Statement for the period ending July 31st, 2013 shall be approved as presented.
Carried.

7. S. Windsor – W. Robb
WHEREAS the transfer of funds from the Town & RM of Minitonas’ Fire Fighting Retainer – Capital Equipment Reserve for the payment of capital repairs to the Minitonas Fire Truck has received approval from the Council of the Rural Municipality of Minitonas, and;
WHEREAS the Minitonas Town Council also approves the transfer of funds for this purpose, fulfilling the terms and conditions of withdrawals from the joint reserve account under by-Law No. 2/2009;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the amount of $2315.58 plus shipping and taxes shall be transferred from the municipality’s Fire Fighting Retainer – Capital Equipment Reserve to the General Operating Account as per the attached estimate.

8. W. Robb – D. Bartel
RESOLVED THAT the Minitonas Town Council has reviewed and approve the adoption of the assessment changes as listed by Manitoba Local Government – Assessment Branch dated August 15, 2013 as per the details attached hereto;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the necessary changes be made to the 2013 Assessment Roll for the Town of Minitonas under the authority of Subsection 300(6) and Section 326 of The Municipal Act, and Supplementary Tax Bills shall be processed and distributed according to the aforementioned changes.

9. D. Bartel – J. Caruk
RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Town of Minitonas does hereby agree to enter into an agreement with MTS for the removal of snow from the Minitonas CO as per the agreement received on August 21st, 2013;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT CAO, Carolyn Gordon shall be authorized to sign said agreement on behalf of the municipality.

10. W. Robb- S. Windsor
RESOLVED THAT we do now adjourn at 9:20 pm to meet again for the next regular meeting of council to be held on the 4th day of September, 2013 A.D. at 7:00 pm.
