“Dear God, I didn’t think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset you made on Tuesday night. That was really cool.”

For one Sunday each year the Hillsview Pastoral Charge journey to Regatta Bay, site of the United Church Camp. We did so on June 9, 2013.

Somehow gathering in such amazing surroundings quiets us so that we see things differently. Amid busy lives Sabbath offered in peaceful places is critical and may lead to us seeing that “orange and purple” do go together through the Creator’s touch. Sabbath can shift our thinking and feelings.

The day began with a Pancake Breakfast (complete with chokecherry syrup), continued with a Service of Praise.

The singing was accompanied by the drum, spoons, and the piano. The sun shone brightly on our gathered community.

The day concluded with lunch and visiting. Fellowship was warm and enjoyable. A few hours in a beautiful setting within a welcoming community sent us out to busy lives with “a song in our hearts.”
