On Thursday, May 30, 2013, a Zumbathon was held at the Louisiana Jax (Westwood Inn) from 6:30-9:30pm to raise money for Relay for Life Swan River.

Twenty three ladies along with Zumba Instructors Lynne Menard and Shirley Yaschyshyn attended and raised $375.50!


The night was filled with Latin dances like the merengue, cumbia, samba, belly dance and many more. It was a fun-filled night which everyone enjoyed making the three hours fly by.

A special “Thank you” goes out to Caitlin Henderson for making the beautiful Cancer Care cake which was raffled off and Jewel Palmer was the lucky lady to take it home. There were also five door prizes handed out throughout the night. Thank you also goes out to Val Reich for making the posters to help us advertise this event, Swan Valley CO-OP and Carma Mason for helping us with the Flash Mob held on Tuesday, May 28th, Elaine Kushnyruk, Gold Canyon Candles, for the candles used as door prizes and especially the Westwood Inn for letting us use Louisiana Jax to hold the Zumbathon.

Also, thank you goes out to the following for advertising our event: Star and Times, Swan Valley Community Calender, CJ104, GX94, FOXFM and all the local businesses for hanging up our posters to advertise the Zumbathon.
