Thanks to generous donors, there was a huge variety of items to shop for; including furniture, household items, dishes, bedding, sports equipment, yummy looking baked goods, and even some garden seeds, rhubarb and asparagus!
Three lucky shoppers who picked up mystery items received a big discount on their purchase, and after lunch all items were slashed to half price or less. The door prize draw of a $100 gift certificate for Madoco’s, generously donated by Mitch Carstairs, was won by Kathleen Fried.
Alma Medwid brought a purse full of teeny surprise visitors, three fluffy kittens, causing cries of delight from adults and children alike. The kittens were dressed for the occasion with pretty little bows on their necks. These kittens aren’t ready for adoption yet, but let us know if you are interested in adopting a cat. You can call our 24 hour line (204-734-9824) and leave a message, and one of us will return your call.
Audrey and George loaded the truck with bigger visitors from the dog facility, Beth and Harley, who spent the day getting lots of attention from people coming and going. Maggie later brought two more visitors, Inukshuk and Cricket, who received a lot of love from the tree planters who came to visit. All four of these beautiful dogs are available for adoption and can be viewed on our website (svapl.ca) or our facebook page (Swan Valley Animal Protection League).
Even the museum cat dropped by for a visit and to check out the great furniture up for sale. He was happy to spend the day wandering around lapping up attention from the kids.
All in all it was a busy and successful day. SVAPL would like to thank everyone who donated to this sale. Some people came by, not necessarily to shop, but to drop off generous cash donations for SVAPL. A huge bouquet goes out to all the volunteers who worked so hard collecting and sorting items, advertising the sale, and helping out at the hall. A big thanks to everyone who stayed behind to help pack stuff up and haul it away.
Scott Tibble, thanks so much for the use of your trailer, this was a huge help and enabled us to have a place to store things, and to carry it all in one load, and to Lew McClurg for driving it to the museum. Also thanks to Dennis Medwid for helping us out after the sale with loading/unloading, and driving the truck and trailer for us. All leftover items were donated to the Temple Baptist church. All proceeds from the sale benefit SVAPL to help our furry friends!
