Building on their success of raising $300,000 to establish the cataract program at the Swan Valley Health Centre, the Lions Clubs of the Swan Valley have gone on to raise the funds necessary to purchase the followup laser eye equipment.

Many people require laser treatment after cataract surgery and now, thanks to the hard work of the Lions Clubs of the Swan Valley and the support of the community, that treatment will be able to happen right here in the Swan Valley.

Over 400 people packed the Veterans Community Hall to help raise the $30,000 needed to purchase the equipment for the Swan Valley Cataract Surgery program. The supper raised approximately $10,000 toward the cost of the equipment.

The guest speaker was Christine Seidel from Bausch & Lomb one of the providers of the cataract equipment. Lou Guffei of Carl Ziess Canada was also in attendance and confirmed the laser equipment has been ordered and should be arriving in Swan River soon.
