Swan River RCMP Investigate Assault in Shoal River

On March 2, 2013 at about 3:30 am the Swan River RCMP, and Parkland EMS were dispatched to an assault with a weapon complaint in Shoal River, Manitoba (Sapotaweyak Cree Nation).


A disagreement amongst three adult males outside of a residence led to an assault with an edged weapon.

Two adult males received minor injury – wounds were superficial and non-life threatening. One victim was transported by EMS to Swan River hospital as a precaution – being treated & later released.

Richard Norman Simpson (47 years old) of Sapotaweyak Cree Nation has been charged with: Assault with a Weapon x 2, Breach Probation x 2.

Simpson was remanded to appear in Dauphin provincial court on March 4, 2013 (today).

The investigation continues.
