On December 19, 2012 police received a report of a single vehicle rollover about 15 miles south of Benito, MB. A 2006 Dodge Ram Truck rolled over near a hill. Through investigation, it appears that the 60 year old female driver lost control of her vehicle as she was ascending a hill on PTH 83.
The vehicle rolled over once, and came to rest on the left side. Police attended the scene. Roblin Ambulance service attended. Minor injury. Driver was released at the scene.
On December 20, 2012 police were dispatched to a roll over in the town of Benito along the highway. Two occupants reported to have minor injuries. Fire department was on scene. Road conditions were very slippery, and included ‘black ice’. Through investigation , it appears that the driver lost control of the vehicle near the railway tracks and slid sideways into the ditch at Government road and 83 hwy. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and landed 30-40 feet from the vehicle. Both occupants had been taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries, and were subsequently treated & released.
Winter road conditions may have contributed to these accidents. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in either case and charges are not currently being contemplated. The investigations continue.
