Two Vehicle Collision Near Swan River

On October 2, 2012 at about 7:00 am, the Swan River RCMP, Swan River Fire Dept, and Parkland EMS were dispatched to a call of a two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Hwy 83 & PR 486, near Swan River, Manitoba.


It appears that a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 74 year old man from Swan River was southbound on Hwy # 83 and collided head-on with a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Impala.

A 57 year old man from Benito, Manitoba had to be extricated from the Chevrolet Impala and subsequently transported via EMS to Swan Valley Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Swan River RCMP, a member of the Criminal Crash Investigation Team in consultation with an RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst are conducting a joint investigation.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. However, distracted driving is being investigated.
