Town Of Swan River Minutes – September 4th, 2012

The Council of the Town of Swan River met on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers with Mayor McKenzie presiding and Councillors Bobick, Jacobson, Friesen, Whyte, Delaurier and Sakal present.



Public Hearing:

Variation Hearing No. 5/2012 was called to order by Mayor McKenzie who advised that the purpose of the hearing was to hear representation for or against the following application:

Application by Melvin & Violet Plett to vary the rear yard requirement from 25 feet to 20 feet to allow the construction of a house and attached garage on an irregular shaped Lot being Lot 5, Plan No. 2419 DLTO and located at 431 11th Avenue South, Swan River, MB

The following people spoke at the hearing:

Dwayne Bresky of 427 11th Ave South indicated that he was not opposed to construction but mentioned that there were other lots available in the area.
Melvin Plett, applicant/owner explained how the house and garage would sit on the lot and also advised that there would still be ample green space within the lot.

There being no other persons present who wished to speak regarding this matter the hearing was adjourned.

Francis Baird representing the Urban Forest Committee regarding trees within the town and the large trees in the tree nursery.

(1) General Accounts from Cheque No. 11950 to No. 11999 for a total of $457,004.60
(2) Payroll Account from Cheque No. 2912 to No. 2919 for a total of $95,506.03.

7. RESOLVED that Derek Poole, Superintendent of Works be authorized to attend the Western Canada Water Wasterwater Conference being held in Winnipeg, MB September 18th to 21st, 2012.

9. RESOLVED that the assessment alterations amendments as listed by Manitoba Local Government Assessment Services dated August 20th, 2012, be made to the 2012 Tax Roll under authority of Section 300(6) and 326 of The Municipal Act.

11. RESOLVED that the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to sign the Municipal Office Construction Management Contract between the Construction Manager, Louis Delaurier and the Town of Swan River.

Thursday, September 13th, 2012 – Medical Services meeting in Minitonas
Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 – Parkland Medical Services meeting in Dauphin
Friday & Saturday, September 28th & 29th, 2012 – Residents Retreat in Steinbach.
