Each year the Swan River RCMP enhances police presence and increases patrols during the annual Swan River Valley Northwest Round-up and Exhibition. This is to accommodate the influx of people enjoying the festivities, and to ensure the safety of the public.

An overview of police calls to service (starting Friday evening, and carrying on through the Rodeo weekend), is as follows:
– Swan River RCMP received 82 calls for service
– Swan River RCMP lodged 27 prisoners (about half were related to the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, of which many were also in breach of a condition of their release, ie, a recognizance)
– Of note, Swan River RCMP initiated 6 assault investigations
– The remainder was a wide cross section of calls to service, which is noteworthy only because of the volume.
