Students and staff and Community Bible Fellowship Christian School participated in a Dr. Seuss enrichment week.

Kendra and Rita Thiessen led the school through 5 afternoons of fun and games. The entire school participated.

We had 4 fantastic stations that we rotated through each day:
1. Book Kanook (Each grade explored a Dr. Seuss book)
2. Authart – (Students worked on writing and illustrating their own stories)
3. Activitack- (Students participated in some fun games)
4. Rhyme Time – (Each grade had fun with a variety of rhyming activities)

We also had 3 optional contests, where students had a chance to do a coloring page, create a new title page for the book, “The Cat in the Hat,” and also create a diorama representing any page from any Dr. Seuss book. Thank you to all the students that participated and those that won.

To add to our fun there was a dress up theme for each day, including mismatched sock day, stripes day, polka dot day and wacky hair day.

The last day was dressing up as any Dr. Seuss character from any of his books. The “Cat in the Hat” and “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” even made guest appearances through the week.

As with many school events, we ate! We enjoyed eating the “Cat’s Hat”, as well as “Green Eggs and Ham (Bacon)” There was also an enormous cake filled with decorated cupcakes and beetle juice to wash it down. Yummo!

The enrichment wrapped up with a finale Friday afternoon where the students were put into mixed age groups and rotated through 6 different challenges. Students and staff as well as family and friends participated.

Thank you to the Thiessen’s and their hard work. Kendra created the curriculum, decorations, costumes, stations and activities herself. That is quite an accomplishment, as she is only in Gr.11.
