At about 6:30 am on May 12, 2012 Swan River RCMP, Parkland EMS and Benito Fire Department responded to a single vehicle rollover on Hwy #83.


A Chevrolet Aveo was traveling west bound on Hwy #83 (just prior to entering a highway curve), approximately 2 miles north of Benito, Manitoba when the vehicle lost control and rolled, coming to a stop on the south shoulder of the highway. Road and weather conditions were good. Traffic was temporarily re-routed.

A 48 year old male passenger is deceased. The critically injured 40 year old female driver is being life flighted. Both the deceased male & the critically injured female are from Swan River, Mb.

Three (3) other adults (passengers) have been treated for minor injuries and are under hospital observation.

The Swan River RCMP investigation continues with the assistance of the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), RCMP Traffic Analyst and the Medical Examiners Office. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Names of those involved is not being released. No further information is available.
