Village Of Benito Minutes – April 17, 2012

A Regular Meeting of Council of the Village of Benito was called to order at 7:00 pm on Tuesday April 17, 2012 in the Village Council Chambers.
Present – Mayor Meadows; Deputy Mayor Scouten; Councilor Offenberger; Councilor Zebinski; Councilor Schneider & Chief Administrative Officer – Pat Ellingson

Delegation – Maintenance Report – Rick Kinaschuk, Maintenance Supervisor
Safety Report – William Woytkiw, Safety Representative
Fire Department – Deputy Fire Chief William Woytkiw and Fire Fighter – Tom Koehn

Mayor Meadows called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

RESOLVED that the minutes of the regular meeting of Council held on April 17, 2012 be adopted as presented.
Carried.

RESOLVED that the agenda for the meeting held on April 17, 2012 be adopted as amended.
Carried.

RESOLVED that the Village of Benito approve a grant to the Benito & District Recreation Centre in the amount of $50.00.
Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED that the April Maintenance report be accepted as presented by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED that the April Workplace Safety report be accepted as presented by the Workers Safety Representative.

RESOLVED that the following Building Permit be accepted as presented:
1. BP #01-12 ~ 182 Second Avenue Demolition

RESOLVED that accounts numbered 23897 to 23946 in the amount totaling $25,163.26 be ratified as paid.
Carried.

RESOLVED that the Financial Statement to the month ending January 31, 2012 be accepted as presented.
Carried.

RESOLVED that the Village of Benito enter into an agreement with Colin Homenuik to provide grounds maintenance services at the Benito Cemetery as per the Maintenance Agreement attached hereto as Schedule ‘A’; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and CAO be authorized to sign said agreement on behalf of the Village of Benito.

WHEREAS the Swan Valley Chamber of Commerce has organized attendance at the 2012 Thompson Trade show and are encouraging representatives of the G7 municipalities to be a part of a delegation to attend the show; and
WHEREAS the Village of Benito wishes to have a delegate in attendance to represent our community;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that support for the initiative in the amount of $250.00 be authorized for payment and a delegate to be recommended to attend the show as part of the delegation from the Swan River Valley.

SCHNEIDER
WHEREAS the Thunderhill ski club has requested funding assistance from the municipalities for the Swan River Valley for the expansion of the skiing facility; and
WHEREAS the recreational value of such an expansion is of benefit to the entire surrounding area;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Benito agree to a grant in the amount of $6000 to be paid in the amount of $2000 in each of the years 2013 to 2015.

RESOLVED that the April Animal Control Report be accepted as presented by the Animal Control Officer.
Carried.

RESOLVED that the $11564.36 received to date, as donations for the Benito & District Recreation Complex roof replacement project be forwarded to the Benito & District Recreation Board as requested.
Carried.

WHEREAS the employee overtime reports have been received and reviewed by Council;
BE IT RESOLVED that the overtime be approved for payment as presented.
Carried.

RESOLVED that the Village Office be closed on Monday April 23, 2012.
Carried.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Regular meeting of Council scheduled for Tuesday April 24, 2012 be hereby cancelled.

17.

SCHNEIDER
RESOLVED that the Public Hearing for the purpose of presenting the 2012 Financial Plan for the Village of Benito to the general public will be held at the Village of Benito Council Chambers on May 8, 2012 at 8:00 pm; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in accordance with subsection 162(2) of the Municipal Act, the Public Notice, as attached, shall be place on display in the community and in the local municipal office and that an ad shall be placed in the local newspaper.
