Minister names new PRHA Board members

Dauphin- Manitoba Health Minister Theresa Oswald has appointed new members to the Board of Directors of the Parkland Regional Health Authority (PRHA). New appointments include Coenraad Fourie of Grandview, Diane Ironstand of Shortdale, and Gwynn Ketel
of Pine River.

Two previous members have been reappointed for a second, three-year term. They include Monica Black (Bowsman) and Harry Showdra (Swan River). Board Chairperson Mary Hudyma, whose term extends to March 2014, welcomed the appointments.

“Our Board continues through the second year of our five-year Strategic Health Plan (2011-2016). The Board has taken some important steps forward in the last year including the implementation of a Quality/Patient Safety and Innovation Committee, as well as implementing policy on Smoke-Free Grounds. We continue to forge ahead with our Vision of “Individuals, families and communities achieving the best possible health and wellness,” Hudyma stated.

Hudyma acknowledged the contributions of three members that saw their Board terms officially expire on March 31, 2012. They included Gerald Shewchuk (Dauphin), Rowena Powell (Roblin), and Paul Overgaard (Dauphin).

The first regular meeting of the new Board will take place in Dauphin on April 30, 2012
