RCMP Investigate Pine Creek Homicide

UPDATE – February 17, 2012:
On February 15, 2012, 48-year-old George Louis LAMIRANDE of Pine Creek F.N. was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He remains in custody pending a February 21st court appearance in Dauphin.

LAMIRANDE and the victim, identified as 26-year-old Steven Ray GENAILLE of Duck Bay, were known to each other.

An autopsy was conducted in Winnipeg and the cause of death has been attributed to blood loss due to trauma.

UPDATE – February 13, 2012:
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Steven Ray GENAILLE of Duck Bay, Manitoba. The investigation continues. To date, there has been no arrests made in connection with the homicide. The cause of death will not be released at this time.

MEDIA RELEASE – February 11, 2012:
On February 11, 2012 at about 3 am, Winnipegosis RCMP were dispatched to a call of an altercation at a residence
on Pine Creek First Nation.

Upon arrival at the residence a male was located deceased in the residence.

His death is being treated as a homicide.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning in Winnipeg.

RCMP Winnipegosis along with investigators from the RCMP Major Crime Services and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section are currently on scene investigating.

No other details are available at the present time.
