Rosann Wowchuk, MLA for Swan River, was accompanied by her grandson at the Swan Valley Lions Skate Plaza in Swan River where Premier Greg Selinger, joined by Ron Kostyshyn, Swan River NDP Candidate, made the following announcement:
Media Release | Today’s NDP will build a new $2 million community health centre in the Swan Valley Recreation and Wellness Centre and hire a nurse practitioner for families in Swan River.
These investments mean that Swan River and nearby communities will benefit from better and more convenient care close to home.
“Every Manitoban, regardless of where they live, deserves access to quality health care close to home,” said Premier Selinger. “With a nurse practitioner and other front-line health professionals, this new community care centre will offer more convenient care to families.”
The new $2 million community health centre will provide space for home care workers, public health nurses, mental health workers, and disease prevention services. The nurse practitioner will be the first nurse practitioner in the community. Nurse practitioners have advanced training and provide many services, such as ordering x-rays, prescribing medications, and performing minor procedures – allowing patients to receive even quicker and more convenient care.
