She married a farmer Harold McLean. When a young lady marries a farmer her duties and job description soon evolves in farming. She learned how to milk cows, looked after fowl of all kind, carry water, stooked sheaves, carried lunch to the fields.

She also was secretary/Treasure of the Roaring River School. Later she was treasurer of the Pentecostal Tabernacle in town.

After farming many years they moved to Swan River. Harold died in 1980. Then she moved to her apartment for many years. The last 6 1/2 years she has resided in the Swan Valley Lodge. One of her hobbies is playing the piano. She took a few lessons but the teacher wrapped her on the fingers as she played by ear. She worked with the Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Florence can tell you she was born June 1st, 1909. And if you have time to sit a spell she will tell you about the story of her Daddy marrying Momma, and he brought his 3 growing sons along. Then there were five more children into the new family.

Harold and Florence had no children of their own but raised Vera and Allan as their own.

Every year on June 1, since she was 85, Don Buhler arrives with his 1952 M.G. red convertible to give her a ride. This year the weather was warm and sunny. Don and Florence drove off into the beautiful day with the top down. Hopefully this event come to past again next year.
