The RM of Swan River is currently under a state of emergency.  Reeve Lorne Henkelman indicated Council made the decision this morning as a result of safety concerns related to significant washouts on roadways throughout the RM. 

Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution and to respect road closed signs.  Crossings may not look serious on the surface, but many have been significantly undermined, creating a serious safety concern. 

At this point there has only been 1 home threatened and the RM was able to bring the situation under control by cutting the road with machines, draining the water and sandbagging.

Henkelman cautioned that people living along the Woody River should be extra vigilant as an increasingly high flow is expected over the Woody River this spring.
