Submitted by: Micheline Carstairs | Swan Valley Fine Arts Festival held their Dance Festival on Thursday March 10th and Friday March 11th.
This group from the Swan School of Dance started the show off with some props (the chairs) and did a Jazz dance to the song “Swing With Me”.
Logan Church, who was a past student of the Swan School of dance, and has since moved on to Brandon, has continued her dance classes there at the “Dance Images” dance studio. It was a real treat for all of us to get to see her as she came back to Swan River to perform at our Festival.
Joe Sync, the dance teacher, is sitting on the sidelines feeling a swell of pride as he watches his youngest group perform!
This Dolyna Dancers group looked great not only because of their beautiful costumes but for their great talent as well! Despite the large size of their group, they never seemed to have a problem knowing where they needed to be.
These 3 beautiful ladies, despite missing half their group, managed to perform this beautiful ballet piece to a song called SHHH......
This year, we were treated to an Adult Dolyna Dancers group. It is a real inspiration to see a group of women performing and having so much fun! They closed off the show for Thursday night!
Friday morning, the Festival continued at Taylor School where the grade 3's performed 2 square dances for our Adjudicator!
After the dance performances at Taylor, Talia Pura the adjudicator did a workshop with the grade 3's. After a lot of moving around and a lot of noise, she managed to get the students to lay down and try to imagine themselves stuck to the floor and lay really quietly!
Friday night resumed at the Friendship Centre with these pretty girls opening the show with a tap number to the song "Welcome to the 60's"
This cute little group with the lone little boy surrounded by 3 little girls, performed a real fun tap dance to the song "Your the Boss" . They did really well despite missing almost half their group due to the bad weather!
When this group stepped up to perform, we thought we had been invaded by aliens. They performed a Hip Hop dance to the song "Extraterrestrial"
The final dance of the evening was performed by this group as the did a Hip Hop dance to a song called “Secret”. This picture is their starting pose and they ended their performance by popping the balloons they had as props.
