Thunderhill Ski Club Receives $62,000 Co-op Grant

Elevating Access: A Magic Carpet Lift For All Ages and Abilities at Thunderhill Ski Club is one of 14 projects that have received a portion of $1 million as a 2024 recipient of Co-op Community Spaces.

“This investment reflects Co-op’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing inclusive, year-round recreational opportunities for the community. We look forward to seeing this new addition at Thunderhill Ski Club,” said Colin Peters, General Manager, Swan Valley Co-op.

Co-op Community Spaces is designed to help protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada. Celebrating its 10th year, Community Spaces has invested a total of $13.5 million in 189 projects in three categories: recreation, environmental conservation and urban agriculture. FCL administers Community Spaces on behalf of more than 160 local Co-ops operating in 600 communities.

“We are excited to be able to announce the addition of this new lift at Thunderhill. The magic carpet will improve access and safety for young families and novice hill users who find the T-bar lifts challenging while they are learning the basics of the sport. We are very grateful to have partners like the Co-op who understand the importance of supporting and investing in the communities they work and live in,” said Jason Galbraith, President, Thunderhill Ski Club Inc.
