Winnipegosis RCMP Respond to Double Homicide

On June 2, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm, Winnipegosis RCMP received a report of shots fired on West Road in Minegoziibe Anishinabe. Officers attended immediately and located an injured 34-year-old male.


Life-saving measures were attempted by officers, but the male succumbed to his injuries on scene. The death was determined to be a homicide and RCMP Major Crime Services became engaged and took carriage of the investigation.

At approximately 4:30 am on June 3, 2024, a deceased female, 52, was located in the area where the first male was located.

A potential suspect was identified, and by approximately 5:25 am, the 19-year-old male was contained in a residence in the community. Shots were fired at RCMP officers from the residence. No officers were physically injured. The suspect attempted to flee the residence on an off-road vehicle but was apprehended by the attending officers and Dauphin Police Dog Services.

The suspect remains in custody at this time. Charges have not yet been formally laid.

The investigation continues by the Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Unit, Dauphin Forensic Identification Services and Manitoba RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction.
