Youth Charged in Minitonas Arena Break-In

On March 12, 2024, Swan River responded to a break-in that occurred at the arena in Minitonas. Sometime overnight a break-in had occurred and power tools and other items were stolen.


Later that day officers attended a residence in Minitonas, attempting to arrest a suspect responsible for other property crime offences. The male suspect came to the door and while officers were placing him under arrest they noticed power tools and other items that were associated to the break-in at the arena. Further investigation linked the 17-year-old male to multiple other property crime investigations.

On March 13, 2024, while the male was being transferred from RCMP custody he attempted to flee out a door, but was caught immediately.

The 17-year-old male has been charged with:
Escape Lawful Custody
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Mischief x2
Theft x2
Break and Enter

He was remanded into custody. Swan River RCMP continue to investigate.
