Long-time Family-Owned Business to Close

Media Release |

After more than 46 years in Swan River, serving the Parklands Region, North Central Saskatchewan, and beyond, Northern Leisure & Power Products’ owners are retiring, and they plan to close the doors over the next several weeks.

The Minish family has been running various businesses in Swan River since 1950. In 1977 Northern Rentals was formed to rent tools and construction equipment, then, in the early 1980s, second-generation, Reid and Brian Minish, became involved. As the business grew, they added brands and secured authorized dealer status of several brands, which made it necessary to relocate to their current location, and rebrand as Northern Leisure and Power Products.

Over the last few months both, Reid and Brian have made the difficult decision to retire and close Northern Leisure and Power Products. Reid said, “Covid was a tough time for all retailers, but our amazing staff and customers supported the business” Brian added, “Like many industries, we were more affected by the supply chain issues since the pandemic, by not being able to source enough equipment and supplies to meet the demand”. They are proud to have represented many top-named brands over the years and they want to thank Honda, Husqvarna, and Kioti, for their support and the great relationships they’ve built.

Northern Leisure & Power Products LTD kick off their “Massive Retirement & Store-Closing Sale” on Wednesday, June 14. There are discounts on almost everything and they look forward to seeing their many customers and friends one last time before they close.
