Resolutions arising from In Camera Discussions

Senior Election Officer

WHEREASSection 10(1) ofThe Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Actrequires each municipality to appoint a Senior Election Official (SEO) who will be responsible to manage and conduct all aspects of municipal elections;
AND WHEREASthe municipality is also required to establish the rate of remuneration for the SEO;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Lynn Williamson shall be hereby appointed to the position of SEO for the Municipality of Swan Valley West;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVEDthat the SEO be paid the following rates of remuneration to perform their duties as set out inThe Municipal Councils and School Boards Election Act:
$4000.00 per year in the year of a regular election; payable in four equal installments to be issued on the last day of June, August, September and November;
$1500.00 per by-election, payable in one installment after the by-election is completed;
$300.00 per year in a year when there is neither a regular election, nor a byelection, payable in one installment on the last day of December.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVEDthat the municipality shall reimburse the SEO at the same rate per kilometer as paid to members of council for each kilometer actually travelled in the performance of their duties. Detailed travel records shall be presented to Council for review and approval prior to payment being issued for mileage expenses;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVEDthat the Reeve and Chief Administrative Officer are hereby authorized to sign the attached agreement establishing the duties and the remuneration of the SEO on behalf of the municipality.
