Swan Valley Communities That Care (SVCTC) wishes to thank members of the Swan Valley Community for their generous donations to the Swan Valley CTC Toys 4U Toy Drive. Once again, this year the SVCTC Toys 4 U Toy Drive were fortunate to collaborate with some wonderful community organizations to provide gifts to children who otherwise might not have received a gift this Christmas.
Donation boxes were set up in businesses throughout Swan River, Minitonas and Benito, collecting donations of toys or money.
The Town of Swan River donated a great space to organize, wrap and distribute the toys. SVCTC was privileged to receive volunteer assistance from many community groups, families and individuals.
Youth from the École Swan River South School (ESRSS) and Benito School and the Swan Valley Rangers AAA U18 Hockey Team also assisted in the organizing and wrapping of the toys.
The initiative kicked off November 27th at the Swan River Fire Hall. Children were able to take a tour and sit in a police car or fire truck.
The goal was to stuff a police cruiser and thanks to the generous donations, this goal was met!
The Swan Valley Jr.‘A’ Stampeders hosted the next event at their December 10 & 11th home games.
Fans could donate toys or cash for a chance to win a Stampeder’s autographed jersey donated by the Stampeder Board and team.
Benjamin Poole was the lucky winner of the Stamps Jersey. Again so many generous donations from our great community!
The third and final event took place December 11th at Red Apple. Red Apple’s goal was to stuff Santa’s sleigh. A RCMP police cruiser was once again stuffed full of toys. The Red Apple event was also a very successful day.
The Swan Valley Health Centre received a donation of gifts from Swan Valley Toys 4 U for youth in hospital over the Christmas season.
Because of the generous donations from the Swan Valley community this year, many children and youth around the Swan Valley will experience a special Christmas.
Thank you for making 2021 an Extra Special Christmas season. This is truly the meaning of Christmas.
