Hello Swan Valley! My name is Lauren Grey, and I am the Swan Valley RISE Economic Development Officer.

I am a very blessed mama of two, and lucky enough to also have the two best step kids. My partner Kevin and I live in the RM of Swan Valley West, with our dogs, horses and chickens. We love working around the farm, and are fortunate enough to have the beautiful Porcupine Mountain Provincial Forest right outside our back door. I am a farm girl at heart, and an outdoors enthusiast through and through, so what better place to live than Swan Valley!

Swan Valley Regional Initiative for a Strong Economy (RISE) is comprised of representative members of council from each RM within the region. The organization’s goal is to support, develop and promote growth in the area’s human and natural resources, in an effort to ensure a sustainable future for the area’s businesses and residents.

My role as Economic Development Officer is to support the economic well-being, and facilitate the economic growth of the Town of Swan River, the RM of Swan Valley West, the RM of Mountain, and the RM of Minitonas-Bowsman. I will serve as a resource, sounding board, and as the #1 advocate for the diverse portfolio of existing businesses in the Valley, and their respective needs, while aggressively promoting all that the region has to offer. I will serve as representative of our region at conferences & meetings held across the province, to ensure that our community’s collective voices are heard. I will analyze worthwhile and unique development opportunities, research private and public sector economic development funding opportunities, and showcase Swan Valley as the ideal location that it is for business start-up.

Over the coming weeks I will be making my way around to many local businesses, and look forward to meeting with all of you. Following August long weekend, please feel free to stop by the RISE office at the Swan Valley Information Center, located at 1500 Main Street anytime to say hello.
