SV School Division Receives Threat – Schools Closed

Notice from Swan Valley School Division

This afternoon there was an anonymous email threat sent to SVRSS to cause harm to students and staff at SVRSS. After receiving the threat RCMP were notified and came to SVRSS, the school was put on a hold and secure, and other school principals were notified of the threat. At no time did any incident occur at our schools that put our students and staff in danger.

In consultation with the RCMP, and with an abundance of caution, Swan Valley School Division will be closed tomorrow. This will include all schools in the division, division office, bus garage and all employees. This will give the RCMP time to investigate this threat. If you have any information on this threat please contact them. Swan Valley School Division does not take this decision lightly and understands the implications but the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.

The School Division will be communicating regularly with the RCMP and we will be following up tomorrow with students, parents, and staff in planning for Wednesday. While we cannot discuss the threat as it is an ongoing investigation if you want to discuss or have other questions please feel free to call 734-4531 ext. 1000 or email me at jzilkey@svsd.ca.

Sincerely;
Jon Zilkey
Superintendent/CE0
Swan Valley School Division
