Youth Job Centre Open in Swan River

Submitted Story | Pictured above: Sara Henkelman, Youth Engagement Leader, Manitoba Youth Job Centre

The Manitoba Youth Job Centre (MYJC) is now open! The MYJC is a community based summer employment referral service throughout rural and Northern Manitoba. We help youth ages 12-29 search efficiently for jobs and connect them with local employers who are hiring. For youth aged 12-16 we also offer programs like the Odd Job Squad and the First Job Certificate Program to provide experience and skills to first-time job seekers. The Odd Job Squad members have previously participated in casual events such as car washes and barbeques. We also assist employers by matching qualified students and youth with local summer employment opportunities. Employers retain full control of their interview and hiring process. Other free services offered through the MYJC are interview preparation, cover letter and resume writing or updating.

If you have any questions or are interested in registering stop by our Open House on May 29th at the Swan Valley Regional Secondary School from 3:30 pm -6:00 pm. You can also stop by our office located at 1431 1st Street N. in Swan River. Office hours are 8:30-12:00 and 1:00-4:30.

For more information, contact Sara Henkelman, the Youth Engagement Leader at (204) 281-0659 or by email at swanrivermyjc@gov.mb.ca.
