Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council of the Rural Municipality of Mountain held Wednesday, April 10th in the R.M. of Mountain Council Chambers in Birch River, Manitoba.

Members Present:

CAO Paige Larocque was present and acted as secretary.
Finance Officer Kim Paterson was also present.

1. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 10:07 a.m. by Reeve Robert Hanson, quorum being present.

WHEREAS the Government of Manitoba is currently conducting a K-12 Education Review which includes the consideration of amalgamation of school divisions;
AND WHEREAS a loss of the local school board within the Swan River Valley will result in a huge economical and educational loss for the residents and students of the Valley;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council of the Rural Municipality of Mountain hereby request Minister Goertzen to consider the local voice through smaller local school boards and not mandate a reduction in school boards.

WHEREAS The Highway Traffic Act authorizes a Municipality as a traffic authority to restrict the allowable weight of vehicles that use part or all of a highway or structure forming part of it [86(9)(10)] with or without conditions;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council of the Rural Municipality of Mountain hereby order weight restrictions on municipal roads as follows:
Effective April 15th to May 31st, 2019;
Single axle and axle groups be 90% of normal;
Travelling or hauling during this time be reported and authorized by the Municipality;
School buses and emergency vehicles are exempt;
The municipality be exempt in emergency situations.
