Tripple P Parenting Program Helps Establish Family Goals

Submitted by: Shannon Cameron

Swan Valley Communities That Care (SVCTC) ran another fantastic Triple P program on November 3rd and 17th, 2018. Families from the Valley had the opportunity to get together for the two Saturday sessions at École Swan River South School to share their experiences of raising children from newborn to approximately ten years of age. The sessions were led by fabulous facilitators who provided their extensive knowledge while also offering a positive and non-judgemental space for the parents to discuss the course concepts together. The goal of the Triple P program is to give parents the skills they need to build strong relationships, to manage misbehaviours, and to establish family goals and objectives.

While the parents were in class, the kids had a great time playing in a classroom and in the gym. The families would reunite for snacks and lunches, provided free of charge by SVCTC, which gave the parents, kids, volunteers, and facilitators a chance to socialize together.

The feedback from the parents who attended the program was wonderful, with one parent saying, “the Triple P program gave me more confidence as a parent. It is hard at first to use a new method of teaching your child a new skill, but don’t give up and you will succeed!”

SVCTC would like to thank the volunteers who continue to assist with the program! If you have any questions or would like to register for future Triple P sessions, please contact Shannon Cameron at svctcprograms@gmail.com or (204) 731-4577.
