Approximately 200 people came out to hear Big Daddy Tazz speak at the Veterans Community Hall in Swan River, Friday, September 28, 2018. The event, hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association Swan Valley Branch, aimed to communicate important messages about mental illness and mental health.
Tazz spoke for over an hour and a half, delighting the audience with humour and speaking genuinely from the heart as he shared about his own journey of challenges with mental illness. A key point of his message was that we need to encourage and teach our children and young people to not be afraid to speak up when they are hurting and in need of support. Many individuals took advantage of the opportunity to speak personally with Big Daddy Tazz as he hung around after the event.
Michelle Walker was the lucky winner of the 50/50 draw that was made at the close of the evening.
CMHA wishes to thank all those that helped organize and prepare for the event, including the Super 8 motel, who generously provided accommodation for Tazz during his stay in Swan River. The evening was made possible through a generous grant from Health Together Now.
