Pine River Celebrates Canada’s 150th

Submitted by: Debbie Soloway | On Saturday October 28th, 2017 the Pine River Community Centre opened the doors to celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday with just under 50 people in attendance.

The centre was decorated in Canadian pride with red and white balloons decaled with maple leaves and Canadian flags. The balloons were placed in vases that sat on old vinyl LP’s and baskets of gourds completed the table center pieces. There were handmade paper flags and maple leaves decorating the walls, thanks to Debbie Swain for making and setting up the decorations.

The potluck supper started at 6:30 with a wonderful spread; there were delicious choices of casseroles, cheese and meat trays, salads, fresh breads and varieties of mouth watering desserts.

Through supper and into the evening you could hear music playing, a playlist consisting of 150 songs. The songs were by Canadian Musicians only and covered all eras. Thanks to Mike Burmaster for putting the playlist together and supplying the equipment.

This was a great event to enjoy good food, friendship, dance and most of all celebrate our great country, Happy 150th Birthday Canada.
