Royal Purple Celebrates Bocce Ball Court Opening

Royal Purple Elks Lodge #185 hosted about 30 guests to the grand opening of the Bocce Ball Courts on Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Legion Park.

Special Olympics Coach Bev Lumax explained the goals & rules of Bocce play. Members of the Swan River “Fireballs” team did a demonstration. One of their members Rick Zimmer will be competing at the National in 2018. Lady Lumax invited everyone to use the court saying that Bocce is an activity for all ages from grandparents to young grandchildren.

With Honoured Royal Lady Nancy Jones, Mayor Glen McKenzie & Lady Lumax holding the ribbon, Fireball team member Erin Seib cut the ribbon. Mayor McKenzie brought greetings from the town saying that the court was a good addition to the park.

Lady Jones thanked all the organizations , businesses and contractors Keith & Sandy Behrmann for their contributions to the building of the court.

The Opening Ceremonies were followed by cake & Coffee and a chance for those in attendance to try out the courts.
