The Dolyna Dancers performed to a full house as always on April 29, 2017. All of the dancers gave their best performance of the year and gave the audience an amazing show.

The senior dancers welcomed our guests with the traditional Pryvit, with Faith Synk as Hospodyna accepting the bread and wheat as presented by her grandchildren Madison, Sara and Tyler Synk.

Our youngest group, the Sadochuk group, entertained our crowd with their enthusiastic personalities.

A new type of dance was added to our program this year – the Mother/Daughter dance. It involved a few of our active dancers as well as a couple of recruits along with their mothers. It was a pleasure to see these duos dancing so nicely together and thoroughly enjoying this mother/daughter time.

The entertainment continued throughout the evening with the rest of our groups. Comments from our audience included how impressed they were with the improvements of the dancers as the years go by. After a number of dances, guests were treated to dessert and coffee/tea during intermission.

After a nice treat, the program continued and wrapped up with the famous “Hopak” by our senior group. The finale was full of energy and the Fedorchuk brothers jumped and kicked higher than ever!

Our evening ended off with the dancers favorite part – the Kolomeyka. This is a chance for all the dancers to get on stage and show us their favorite moves – at their own discretion! All of the dancers from ages 3 to dancers who have graduated participate in the last kolomeyka.

This last dance seems to fly by and the song is never long enough for everyone.

A huge congratulations going out to all of the dancers on an excellent job! We would also like to thank our instructors Kelsa Unruh and Joe Synk for all of their time and dedication throughout the year. They do a wonderful job sharing their techniques to our children. Thank you to our executive and committees. And of course to our parents/grandparents/friends, etc for bringing the kids to practice every week. And to the community for the support of our Final Dessert Concert – we hope to see you all next spring!

And lastly a reminder of the Dolyna Dancers 40th Anniversary Zabava which will be held May 20th, 2017. Please join us in celebrating 40 years of our Dance group in Swan River.
