On April 5, 2017 representatives from the Minitonas Curling Club (MCC) finalized their endowment with the Community Foundation of Swan Valley (CFSV) in the amount of $8,000.

The funds became available when the club made the decision in February 2017, after two seasons of no ice and curling, to sell assets of the Club. “It was agreed that funds on deposit would be endowed with the Community Foundation of Swan Valley in the name of Minitonas Curling Club.” said Lynda Leslie, MCC Secretary “In this way, interest earned on these funds would be granted back to an organization/club in the Minitonas community.”

The club decided that each year, in rotation, one of the following organizations/clubs would be the annual recipients of the funds.
Minitonas Garden Club
Minitonas 4H Mini Makers
Minitonas 4H Beef Club
Minitonas Town Hall Kitchen Fund

“In this way, the Minitonas Curling Club would forever be helping future organizations/clubs in the community that supported it for many years.” said Leslie.

An endowment with the Community Foundation provides a never-ending source of income to the community. The original gift remains untouched and the interest earned is used to support local charities.
