The Swan Valley Fine Arts Festival Association kicked off the 2017 Festival season with the Band Festival on February 21 through 24.

The Band Festival features music students from across the Swan Valley.

Performances by individuals, ensembles and bands were held during the day at Minitonas Middle Years School(MMYS), Benito School, Swan Valley Regional Secondary School (SVRSS) and Ecole Swan River South (ESRSS) which also included bands from Birch River School, Bowsman School and Taylor School.

A Thursday evening Jazz session showcased Jazz bands from MMYS, ESRSS and SVRSS.

This year’s adjudictor was Barbara Dowsett from Minnedosa, MB who provided encouragement through exploring the positive elements of the performances and provided the opportunity for growth through hands on instruction for areas of improvement.
