The charity evening included a very successful silent auction, a photo booth by Trident Music of Brandon and entertainment by The Sean Taylor Band from Winnipeg.

The auction prizes were organized and collected from Swan River businesses, MNU locals and generous businesses and people across Manitoba, Ontario and Alberta by nurses of Swan River Nurses Local #26. There were 37 auction packages (8 of which valued over $500), and a total of nearly $8,000 in prizes.

$12,105.30 was donated to the Community Foundation of Swan Valley. The Manitoba Nurses Union Fund (unrestricted Fund) will be part of the Endowment Funds in perpetuity and a portion of the interest given out in a grant or grants to a worthwhile project or projects as approved by the granting committee of the Community Foundation of Swan Valley each year.

This year the foundation has set the portion of interest to go to granting at 4% . This is set each year depending on the income from interest but has been within 1/2% for years. There will be many Community Organizations in the Swan Valley that benefit from the MNU’s foresight forever.
