Remembering Those Who Fought For Our Freedom

ValleyBiz Story |

A mild November morning greeted a group of Veterans as they gathered at the Cenotaph in Swan River to lay wreaths in memory of and tribute to fallen soldiers.

Members of the RCMP, Cadets, and Stampeders along with dignitaries and other community representatives marched from the Veteran’s Community Hall to observe the ceremony.

The group returned to the Veterans Community Hall for the Remembrance Day observances where the hall was packed to standing room only.

As the final notes of the Last Post faded away
at the 11th hour,
on the 11th Day,
of the 11th Month,

We Remembered Them

The room fell silent in solemn remembrance and gratitude for those who had paid the ultimate price on our behalf.

Following the Rouse, many groups and organizations came forward to lay wreaths in remembrance.

There were many young faces in the crowd. Faces too young to remember the last world war. Too young to remember the wartime tunes sung by the Remembrance Day Choir. Faces committed to remember, nonetheless. To remember those who fought. To remember what they fought for. To remember the sacrifices made. We Will Remember Them.

Lest We Forget
The service and sacrifice of those who protect our freedoms.
Our surviving war vets.
Those wounded by war in mind, body or spirit.
Those who never returned home.
The cost of our freedom.
