Peter Manness, a professional agrologist and advisor within MNP’s Farm Management Consulting Group, delivered an insightful seminar emphasizing the importance of farm planning which encompasses many areas including operational cost management, program for planned capital replacement, financing, succession strategies, etc. Peter also discussed current financial trends in the industry and provided an example of MNP’s regional benchmarking data in a per acre cost format. At the conclusion of the seminar Peter hosted a “Q & A” session which generated some good discussion.

As one of those in attendance stated, farming has changed dramatically in recent years and having an updated farm plan in place has become increasingly important. Not only does it provide operational and financial guidance but it also provides assurance to creditors of a farm’s viability going forward, exposure to risk, liquidity issues, etc.

As a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm for Canada’s agriculture industry, MNP has invested more time and resources into understanding agriculture than any other firm. With more than 15,000 agriculture clients and a team of over 600 agriculture specialists, MNP delivers a suite of services to protect farmers and maximize results.
