The spotlight was placed on 38 of our grade 1 to grade 8 young musicians in the program under the leadership of Program Instructor Marcel Hapel.

This was Marcel’s first year as instructor of our program and his incredible instructing ability, style and technique was evident in the obvious connection between Marcel and the young musicians, their improvement of musical skills and their enjoyment of performing.

Our guest performer, Kaitlyn Obedzinski captivated the audience with her selections of reels, jigs and waltzes. She was a wonderful inspiration to our young fiddlers.

We have a great group of volunteers who are instrumental to the success of our concert. Christina and Peter Fleming founded the program 9 years ago with the backing of past Minitonas Early Years School Principal Dennis Kalynuk. All 3 founders continue to volunteer their time and expertise to ensure our concert runs smoothly. This year, we had George Woodley and Les Rosteski accompanying our musicians on guitar and bass. The Janzen family has always made themselves available to help set up and decorate on concert day and are a great addition to the program. We also have the support and assistance of the families of our musicians who help set up, assist during intermission and help clean up. Our School Division, Principal Miles Jones and teaching staff are also significant to the success of our concert.

It is wonderful to be part of a community that comes together to support and encourage our talented young fiddlers and to share the inspiration and joy their music provides!

Thank you all for supporting our Minitonas Fiddlin students!
