This was the 5th Anniversary for BAM Jam Camp and proved that the talent in our Valley just keeps growing.

It is exciting to see the passion fro music grow in these students. With 54 participants this year, taking two days out of their Spring Break, we know music is making a huge impact on the youth of the Valley & beyond. Not only do we have local participants, but registrations from The Pas & St. Rose. This year we had 4 student who have never played the fiddle, showing with a little hard work there a great rewards!

Jam sessions broke out in different areas of the school at the end of the day, giving students the chance to learn from all different skill sets.

Special thanks to the local community organizations that sponsored 37 students to take part in BAM Jam Camp. The Bowsman Lions Club, The Swan River Lions Club, The Minitonas Lions Club, The Royal Purple, The Elks Lodge, The Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre,The Kinsmen Club & The Rotary Club.

Projects like this take place only because of the generosity of volunteers. Countless hours of hard work made this camp a great success.

RJ’s Music & Sound has been a great supporter for BAM Jam Camp every year & this year donated an Oscar Schmidt guitar package which was auction off. Thank you to Billy Burghart for the winning bid of $275.

Thank you to Swan Valley Credit Union, Investors Group, SR Auto Salvage, Spruce Products Ltd., Burnside & Ferriss, Formo Motors, Swan Valley Co-op, CJ104 FM, The Star & Times & Swan Valley Video Services for your sponsorship help. Also thanks to the many generous businesses & families that donated to our raffle. Everyone involved contributed to the wonderful music that filled the hall each evening!

The evening concert showcased the skills the students had spent the two day working hard on.

Great performances were put on by all! Here is Intermediate Fiddle.

Each year BAM Jam Camp brings some of Canada’s best instructors from across the country to Bowsman! There was no disappointment in this years line up. Marcel Hapel has been our local instructor for the 2014/15 school year, Marcel comes from Manigotogan, MB. Daniel Koulack & Ameena Bajer-Koulack were here from Winnipeg, MB. We also had Kim de Laforest, Saskatoon, SK, Karrnnel Sawitsky, Toronto, ON, Donna & Morgan Turk from Calgary, AB, Greg Simm from Dartmouth, NS & Ryan D’Aoust from The Pas, MB. Students were taught fiddle, guitar, bass & vocal. They also enjoyed dance lessons & jam sessions. Each of these instructors brings a unique quality to the instruction and the Valley was extremely blessed to have them here.

The Absolute Beginner & Beginner 1 classes joined together to practice up for the big show!

The upright bass class was busy learning new techniques to back up many of the performances during the student showcase.

BAM Jam Camp not only teaches the students great songs & skills they will carry forward with them, but also brings them together with their “Musical Family”. Each year there is a reunion of friendships with the unique connection that music brings. To see this being fostered each year was truly worth every ounce of hard work!

The vocal group was joined by the Advanced Fiddle and Bass students to fill the hall with amazing sound!

Thanks again to our AMAZING Instructors who bring their talent to share with the Valley.

Music brings the community together & inspires the youth in all. Donna Burghart
