Laurie is a registered dietitian and owner of Eat Right Dietitian a services in Swan River. Although she specializes in adult, childhood and infant nutritional issues, her presentation focused on how seniors and those cooking for one or two can make sure that their diets provide the nutrients necessary for good health. For more information, for consultations or for registering for a class Laurie can be reached at 204-281-5562.

A good crowd listened attentively as Laurie outlined the importance of good nutrition and how to make sure that our diet provides it. When cooking for one or two, this can be more difficult, but Laurie suggested ways to add variety to our meals and provided possible menus and ideas.

She also reminded us of the real danger associated with excess sugar in our food and drinks and emphasized the importance of checking for nutritional content including sugar and hydrogenated and trans fats in the foods we buy.
