From small children yet to young to understand the significance of the day to senior Veterans who know all to well the sacrifices made, the Legion Hall was packed for the annual service of Rememberance.

The service began with the singing of O Canada, the Roll Call of Veterans passing since last Remembrance and a Minute of Silence.

Various groups and organizations participated in the laying of wreaths.

Master of Ceremonies Les Sikala reflected on the cost of serving both in wartime and in peace keeping missions.

He commented “More Brave and true Canadians have sacrificed their lives and many have returned with horrific scars, both visible and unseen.” He challenged family and community to identify those who are suffering from invisible injuries and to reach out to them.

The service concluded with the marching off of the Colours.

During the closing comments Sikala mentioned that, “There are others in this room today who deserve our remembrance and our appreciation as well. They are our first responders, our police, our fire and our emergency personnel.” Following the ceremony, several veterans paused to pose with some of the local members of the RCMP.
