The show focuses on the mining of gold placer deposits found in the Yukon Territory, Canada by various teams of miners. Mike is a mechanic, welder and general heavy duty operator for Parker Schnabel’s crew on Scribner Creek. Mike is also the third son of Denis and Connie Beaudry, grandson of Kon and Clara Johnson and Charlie and the late Madeleine Beaudry.

Here is Mike’s bio from the Discovery Channel website:

Parker’s new mechanic Mike “Big Mike” Beaudry grew up on his family’s grain farm in Bellsite, Manitoba, population 100. For as long as he can remember Mike would follow his Dad around “like a shadow” as he fixed equipment on the farm. Mike learned to fix “just about anything.” In the harsh winters, Mike helped the family logging business. Mike left home at 22, moving to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to continue work in logging and construction.

In 2013, Mike followed his brother Matt to Dawson to work for Klondike Mining Legend Tony Beets. A chance meeting with Parker in Tony’s Camp led to Parker offering Mike a position on his crew. Mike’s goal this year is to “have a great season and find a ton of gold.”

During the off-season, Mike runs and owns a successful mobile mechanical and welding services company in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, boating, and quad-biking.
