Village of Benito Minutes – September 9, 2014

A Regular Meeting of Council of the Village of Benito was called to order at 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 9, 2014 in the Village Council Chambers.

Present: Mayor Meadows; Deputy Mayor Scouten, Councilor Zebinski; Councilor Offenberger; Councilor Schneider

Chief Administrative Officer ~ Pat Ellingson.
Mayor Meadows called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm

1. SCOUTEN
ZEBINSKI
RESOLVED that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council held on August 12, 2014 be adopted as presented.
Carried.

2. SCHNEIDER
OFFENBERGER
RESOLVED that the agenda for the Regular Meeting held on September 9, 2014 be adopted as amended.
Carried.

3. ZEBINSKI
SCOUTEN
RESOLVED that accounts numbered 25571 to 25613 in the amount totaling $74,087.80 be ratified as paid.
Carried.

4. OFFENBERGER
SCHNEIDER
BE IT RESOLVED that the Tax Sale set for November 13, 2014 be hereby cancelled.
Carried.

5. OFFENBERGER
ZEBINSKI
BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Benito approve the purchase of a work platform and a 8’ blade as per quote attached hereto as Schedule “A’.

6. SCHNEIDER
SCOUTEN

BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Benito include a profile page and contact information in the ValleyBiz Directory with a link to the Village of Benito website for a cost of $25 for 2014.

7. ZEBINSKI
SCHNEIDER
RESOLVED that the Village of Benito approve payment of invoices as per summary as attached hereto.
Carried.

8. SCOUTEN
OFFENBERGER
WHEREAS Section 300(6) of the Municipal Act provides for the correction of taxes due to changes in the physical condition or reclassification of properties as reported by the Assessment Branch;
AND WHEREAS the Village of Benito tax roll has properties which requires such corrections;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that property taxes totaling $689.63 as per Schedule “A” affixed hereto be hereby cancelled.

9. SCHNEIDER
ZEBINSKI
WHEREAS the office of the Fire Commissioner has determined that the NWRL-Benito Branch does not require an Automatic Sprinkler System as per letter dated May 21, 2014; and
WHEREAS authorization is required from all three co-owners, namely the Town of Swan River, the R.M. of Swan River and the Village of Benito, to decommission the sprinkler monitoring and fire alarm monitoring;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer will sign the authorization to decommission on behalf of the Village of Benito. Carried.

10. SCOUTEN
ZEBINSKI
RESOLVED that The Village of Benito authorize payment of the 2014 Membership dues to the Association of Manitoba Municipalities in the amount of $728.43 plus GST.
Carried.

11. SCOUTEN
SCHNEIDER
RESOLVED that audited financial statements of the Swan Lake Watershed Conservation District be received.
Carried.

12. OFFENBERGER
ZEBINSKI
RESOLVED that the CAO authorized to attend the Manitoba Municipal Administrator Association annual District Meeting in Dauphin, MB on Monday September 22, 2014; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that expenses be paid as per policy.
Carried.

RESOLVED that we do adjourn the Regular Meeting of Council at 9:40 pm.
