Folks who attended the Tent Town Garden Club Fruit Festival on Saturday, September 6, 2014 were in for a treat – or should I say many treats. The theme for the Festival this year was CHILDREN IN THE GARDEN. They are our future gardeners.

The hall was decorated with balloons & table centerpieces were bright red placemats with bugs & butterflies and bright red happyface rubber balls.

The Jr Garden Club (grade 3 & 4 ) displayed the flowers and vegetables that they grew over the summer. Local vendors filled tables with fresh honey, homemade baking, crafts of jewellery and knitting as well as fruits, vegetables, jams & pickles and 2 giant pumpkins.

The local vote of the favorite yard or acreage was won by Lorraine Dushanek. The trophy is sponsored by Terry’s Greenhouse.

There were plenty of homemade pies to chose from with a beverage & lots of conversation. A power point presentation of past fruit festivals & garden club activities and children in the garden was compiled by Teresa McKay.

Funds raised will be used to buy next years flowers for the Village Square & Learners Park as well as various flower pots in the Main St area. The Garden Club would like to thank the sponsors for their endless support & a big thank you to all the people who attended. It was a blooming success!
